Scafell Hotel Rosthwaite, Rosthwaite

The hotel offers a charming modern room with a picturesque bathroom overlooking the river at the back. While the decor may be slightly outdated, the view of the river is stunning, and the en suite is impeccably clean with modern amenities. The service is attentive, and the location in Rosthwaite within the Borrowdale Valley is breathtaking. The dining options are delicious, especially the cooked English breakfast. The hotel boasts a range of high-quality foods in the bar area. Facilities are well-maintained, though some areas need refreshing.

I was given a family room instead of the double I booked, which made it challenging for two people to get ready in the morning. However, the room was clean, warm, and comfy. The location is perfect, right next to the river with plenty of great walks for all capabilities, and ideal for exploring Keswick and surrounding areas. The dining was of a very high standard, but the breakfast service starting at 8 am was late for hikers. Overall, a lovely place to relax with a glass of wine.

The hotel impressed me with its immaculate rooms in the rear building during our first night stay, although a bit small for the facilities. However, the spacious and comfortable room compensated with a beautiful view of the mountain. The service was friendly and helpful, and the location was wonderful with different areas to sit and relax both inside and out. The dining was of excellent quality, and the facilities were second to none. Overall, a great experience with excellent value for the money.
